The Community Heritage Grants program is administered by the National Library of Australia, and provides grants of up to $15,000 to help preserve locally-owned objects, letters, files, diaries, maps, photos, films and sound recordings. Community organisations eligible to apply for a grant include local historical societies, regional museums, public libraries, and Indigenous and migrant community groups.
The National Archives helps manage the scheme. Grant winners receive practical preservation and archival training from the Archives when they attend the grant-giving ceremony held in Canberra.
Applications for the 2007 Community Heritage Grants closed on 8 June. For further information, visit the Community Heritage Grants page on the National Library of Australia’s website.
