Training and events
The National Archives provides recordkeeping training courses for people working in Australian Government agencies. These courses are customised to the Australian Government environment and relate very specifically to the legislative framework and requirements within our government. Although we occasionally accept participants from non-government organisations who work closely with our agencies, the courses are not suitable for non-Australian Government agencies or organisations.
The National Archives offers the following in records management training:
Keep the Knowledge – make a record!
A package to teach Australian Government employees about their records management responsibilities and obligations. It is available both as an eLearning module and as a PowerPoint presentation with a presenter's guide.
Records and information management in the Australian Government
A one-day workshop for records managers and staff.
Implementing normal administrative practice (NAP)
A training session on how to effectively and accountably implement normal administrative practice (NAP) to routinely destroy certain types of low-value records and information. This course is currently being revised for future online presentation.
Introduction to sentencing
A practical full-day training course for sentencing staff, contractors and their supervisors.
Developing a records authority
This interactive workshop explores the steps involved in developing a records authority for your agency.
GAIN Australia forums (Government Agencies Information Network)
Two-hour forums on information and records management issues. Target audience: chief information officers (CIOs), senior managers with information and records management responsibilities and information and records managers from Australian Government agencies.
We also provide information on qualifications in records management.
