Records are delivered each weekday at 9.45am, 1.15pm and 3.15pm.

Most records ordered prior to 2pm will be delivered the same day. Records ordered after 2pm will not be available until the following day.

9am to 5pm Saturdays

There is no delivery of records to the reading room on Saturdays. You can submit an advance request to view records.

Free Wi-Fi access is available to readers who bring a device capable of connecting to a wireless network (eg laptop).

The Victorian Archives Centre reading room is operated jointly by the National Archives and the Public Record Office Victoria (PROV). Free Wi-Fi access is available to researchers.

Material from both archives may be viewed in the Shiel Street reading room. Different access arrangements and charging regimes apply to PROV material. Information explaining the differences is available in the reading room or can be sent prior to a visit.
