The National Archives' Perth reading room will be closed from Wednesday 1 November 2017 to Friday 1 December 2017 to facilitate a records consolidation project being undertaken by the Archives.
Following an assessment of the collection and access rates, predominantly low-use records stored in Perth will be relocated to the National Archives' New South Wales office in Sydney. These will remain accessible to Western Australian users post-relocation.
High and medium use records with significance to the community and stakeholders will remain in Perth for local access into the future.
It is anticipated that this project will be completed by 1 December at which time the reading room will reopen. Access to records held in Perth will not be available during November except in exceptional circumstances.
