National Archives Western Australia office update

The National Archives remains committed to a continued presence in Western Australia, and is making arrangements to ensure it has appropriate accommodation in Perth for future years.

The Archives' current premises at East Victoria Park are currently for sale by the landlord. However, it is expected that all regular services will continue to be available from this location until late in 2018.

A 10-year lease was signed on January 2 between the Archives and Western Australia-based company Compu-stor, for a repository in Belmont, Perth. This facility will ensure the protection and preservation of archival records held in Perth, to ensure they remain available for future generations. Options are being explored for a new office and reading room, anticipated to be in reasonable proximity to the Perth CBD, for public access to the records from late 2018 when the current site at East Victoria Park site will close.

More information about public access arrangements from late 2018 will be provided once these have been settled.
